Madoka and Homura Baseball Cards

so!!!!!!! i haven't been posting a lot of art lately, which is funny because even though it's summer break, i suddenly find that i barely have time to make art hahah........mainly because i'm more prone to procrastination during summer than the school year haha

also!! happy late 4th of july. i actually finished this last night right before going off to see the fireworks, heh

for this piece, i had originally wanted to do tarot cards, bc i saw these really cool pokemon tarot cards on here....but then i decided against it bc i thought, "but tarot cards aren't really my style!!" you know!! too old and too many intricate patterns, and the palettes for them are usually always so muted and boring for me........so i didn't know what to do until i decided on BASEBALL CARDS!! baseball cards are big in my memory, my friend used to have a ton of them in her basement and i'd steal them, and of course boys on the corner liked to trade them and i would find some on the sidewalk sometimes with gum in them................

i was also inspired by colorful outlines!! i didnt like how it looked with a black outline, so i added more POP n' color to it by adding colorful outlines!! the bright and bold colors, the colorful outlines, and the whole POP feel to it is probably inspired by some subconscious pop art lol.....(like andy warhol!!!)

anyways i'm so glad with how this piece turned out in the end tho!!!!! while i was doing the piece, i was so scared that it would be ugly, and i kept thinking to myself: wow lydia this was such a waste of time, maybe you should just stop now otherwise it's just a waste of time, man this does NOT look like what i wanted it to......and i kept thinking that to myself, but as i started to add more colors and experiment more, i think it ended up better!!!!!! anyways now that it's done i'm really proud of it, and i'm really happy with it. i think it turned out a lot better than i expected, and i just love the bright colors and the pOP!!!!!

ok sorry for talking so much about my piece, if you read through all that it must've been a pain and i'm sorry. it's just, this piece was a really big piece, you know, because it took me forever, and it also has waaay more colors. it's a big piece!! it took me a long time!! and anyways it's summer so nobody's gonna stop me from being a chatterbox.
